Jordan Goodman provides a short overview of ten alternative investment strategies. Each chapter comes with a list of additional resources and he includes a chart that lays out the minimum investment required for each strategy, the amount of time it takes, how risky it is and how easy it is to do. This book is a great resource for anyone who may want to pursue investment strategies outside of a traditional portfolio of mutual funds, annuities, stocks and bonds.

Downside: As an introductory book there is very little downside to Fast Profits in Hard Times. To actually pursue any of the strategies, you will want to use the resources Goodman suggests, conduct additional research, find mentors, and plan on many hours of hands on learning before you invest.
